The “New Oriental Chinese Music Scene” concert featuring Chinese folk music, jointly presented by the China Cultural Center in Stockholm and the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, was held at the Stockholm Concert Hall on the evening of September 5. The concert served as the main event of the “Mid-Autumn Festival: A Moonmoment to Remember” series in Sweden. Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Zhou Limin and his wife Zhang Guoying, as well as Li Rui, Cultural Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, attended the concert together with more than 1300 guests and members of the public from across Swedish society.

The program featured a rich blend of traditional classics and contemporary original compositions, including “Spirit of Langya,” “Spirit of Chinese Calligraphy,” “Farewell to My Concubine,” and “Phoenix Dance.” A particular highlight was “China Moon,” specially composed by renowned Swedish pianist Robert Wells, and performed by Swedish violinist Semmy Stahlhammer and Chinese erhu player Dong Shiluan, among other musicians. The encore, “Blossoms Under the Full Moon,” ignited the audience’s enthusiasm and brought the concert to a rousing close.

The concert reached one high point after another, earning sustained and thunderous applause from the audience, who were captivated by the distinctive charm of Chinese folk music and deeply impressed by its rich cultural heritage and vibrant contemporary spirit.
