On June 23, 2026, Ambassador Zhou Limin attended the ceremony marking the resumption of China Eastern Airlines’ direct route between Stockholm and Shanghai. More than 40 representatives from China Eastern Airlines Group, Swedavia, the Swedish Transport Administration, Business Sweden, and other Chinese and Swedish institutions were present at the event.

Ambassador Zhou stated that China and Sweden have consistently upheld the principles of mutual respect and win-win cooperation, while exchanges and cooperation in various fields have continued to deepen and people-to-people exchanges have become closer. The relaunch of the route further facilitates travel and connectivity between the two countries, creating new opportunities for friendly exchanges. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China will remain committed to high-quality development, steadily expand high-level institutional opening up, and continuously share its development dividends with the rest of the world. Ambassador Zhou expressed the hope that people from all sectors in China and Sweden would take this route as a new bridge to enhance mutual understanding, strengthen the friendship between the two peoples, and jointly write a new chapter in China–Sweden friendly exchanges.

Executives from China Eastern Airlines and Swedavia noted that the resumption of the route would further enhance connectivity between China and Sweden, as well as between China and Europe, injecting fresh momentum into bilateral cooperation and development.
