2025/05/12

On May 11, 2025, Ambassador Cui Aimin attended the preliminary round of the 2025 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for college and secondary school students in Sweden. Thirteen contestants from universities and secondary schools across Sweden competed in the event, which drew an audience of nearly one hundred family members, friends and guests from various sectors of Swedish society.

In his remarks, Ambassador Cui emphasized that, as President Xi Jinping noted, language is a tool for human beings to exchange thoughts, a carrier for inheriting civilization, and a bridge for enhancing understanding. Chinese is not only a language, but also a way of thinking and a lens through which to view the world. Learning Chinese helps broaden global perspectives, enhance intercultural communication skills, deepen mutual understanding between Swedish and Chinese youth, and lay a strong foundation for seizing the opportunities that come with China’s development. Noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Sweden, Ambassador Cui expressed the hope that the students would strive to become envoys of exchanges and cooperation between China and Sweden, and act as bridges connecting the hearts of the two peoples.

After intense competition, Noah Mandegård from Högskolan Dalarna and Siri Tiger Armelius from Kungsholmens gymnasium won first place in the university and secondary school groups respectively.
