On November 1, 2024, Ambassador Cui Aimin met with the new Director General for Trade Policy at Sweden's Ministry for Foreign Affairs Camilla Mellander. They reviewed the development of bilateral ties and mutually beneficial cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and exchanged views on relevant issues in China-Sweden economic and trade relations.
Ambassador Cui briefed on China's efforts to accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces and steadily advance high-quality development. He pointed out that China and Sweden enjoy a strong foundation for economic and trade cooperation and complementary industrial strengths, and have broad space for cooperation in the fields of green and low-carbon development, application of science and technology, and biomedicine. He expressed the hope that the two sides will strengthen communication and exchanges in the economic and trade fields, consolidate cooperation in traditional areas, and expand cooperation in emerging industries, so as to set a fine example of China-Europe economic and trade cooperation and deliver greater benefits to the two countries and peoples.
Director General Mellander stated that Sweden is a firm proponent of free trade and is ready to strengthen communication and exchanges with China, facilitate cross-border travel between the two countries, address relevant issues through consultations, and advance mutually beneficial cooperation.
