Q: Recently, Sharon openly stated that Israel is no longer bound by the commitment with the United States on not harming President of the Palestinian National Authority Arafat. What's your comment?

A: President Arafat is a legitimate leader elected by the Palestinian people. We are opposed to any comments and activities threatening the personal security of him and call on the Israeli side to be cautious with its words and deeds so as to prevent the regional situation from further deteriorating .
